The professional education preparation programs at Old Dominion University are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Virginia Department of Education.
Graduate Teacher Education Programs
Individuals who have completed a non-teaching undergraduate degree and wish to become licensed teachers, counselors, or principals may pursue one of the following programs. Upon completion of the program, an individual will earn a master's degree and the professional license in their respective program. See below for admission requirements and application procedures.

Graduate Admission Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent degree from a foreign institution
- 2.8 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
- satisfactory official Graduate Record Examination OR Miller Analogy Test scores as determined by the respective academic department
- passing scores on Praxis I or achieved SAT or ACT scores as prescribed by the Board of Education
