Program Accreditation

This program is fully accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) through the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). The Virginia Standards of Technology for Instructional Personnel are also satisfied within the coursework.

  • Old Dominion University's physical education and health teacher preparation program was recognized by the Council on Professional Preparation in Physical Education (COPPPE), an agency of the American Mrs. bowie and dr. gagen with dean william graves and student officers at the copppe presentation at the philadelphia aahperd conference. Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD) as one of only 6 colleges and universities nation-wide to pass the NASPE program accreditation under the new NASPE standards for teacher preparation programs during the 2002-2003 academic year.
